Aerocoat is a water-based pure acrylic emulsion paint formulated by Aeroflex for their own EPDM closed-cell insulation. Brushed or rolled over exposed pipe and duct insulation it forms a flexible, permanently bonded shield against ultraviolet light and weathering — the two things that break elastomeric foam down when it is left uncovered.
What makes it work on insulation rather than just any coating is elongation. Aerocoat stretches more than 400%, so when the foam is squeezed, compressed or moves with the pipe, the film moves with it instead of cracking or peeling. It also carries a fungus inhibitor and needs no primer.
This is the 946 ml can (1/4 US gallon) in white — the size for fitting covers, valves, short exposed runs and making good after the main job. At the published rate of approximately 10 m² per litre per coat it covers around 9.5 m² in one coat, or roughly 4.7 m² finished at the recommended two.
White is the usual choice on chilled water, refrigeration and air conditioning services where a reflective finish helps, and on any installation that has to look clean. Aerocoat is also widely used as a colour-coding coat so different pipe functions can be identified at a glance.
Thin with clean water, stir thoroughly, apply to a clean surface free of oil, grease and chalking. Cleans up with water. Read the Safety Data Sheet before use.
